Thundery rain across northwest Europe


Thursday
Slack low pressure lies to the west of Europe, whilst high pressure is to the east, feeding in very warm air from the south across the heart of the continent. Showery for northern Spain, but most of Spain and Portugal will be dry and warm. Areas of thundery rain continue to affect France, especially central and southern regions. Thundery rain also affects the Mediterranean islands and southern Italy, alto southernmost Greece.
Northern Italy, the eastern Alps and much of eastern Europe sees a dry and warm day with plenty of sunshine across countries from Poland to Romania. Hot and sunny in northern Germany too. Showers for Switzerland southwest Germany and Belgium, some thunderstorms brewing later, drifting north into the Netherlands.
The Baltic stays generally dry and warm, whilst western Norway will see some rain. Showery and cool toward the far north of Scandinavia.


Friday
An improved day across northern Spain with dry and fine conditions elsewhere here. The Balearic Islands though could see the odd shower passing through. Thunderstorms developing over Sardinia and Corsica as well as Sicily, but mainland Italy looking to be mainly dry. Mostly dry for Greece but thundery showers developing across northern parts of Turkey.
Thundery rain still affecting France, the Netherlands, Belgium and parts of Germany into the Alpine countries. Largely dry and fine though across eastern Europe.
The Baltics and Finland stay generally dry and warm, whilst parts of Norway will see some rain. Thundery and heavy rain expected across central and northern regions of Sweden. Showery rain moving across Denmark.
