Cold & dull around the Baltic, sunny western Norway


Friday
High pressure resides across Scandinavia and Russia, whilst slack low pressure affects central and south-eastern Europe. A cool pattern in the north, but warm in the far south. Temperatures in southern Spain topping 25C, although there will be a few showers.
Dry for northern Iberia and France. Best sunshine toward the Biscay coast, highs 17C. Thicker cloud toward the Low Countries will keep temperatures around 10 to 13C. Locally cooler where rain develops across the Netherlands and northern Germany, some persistent heavy bursts. Dry overall for southern Germany and the Czech Republic, but some showers possible for the Alps.
Much of Italy will be dry, but some rain affects the south. Generally wet for the Balkans, including western Greece , although the Greek Islands, Turkey and Cyprus will be sunny and warm, 23C. Rain extends across Hungary, Slovakia and eastern Poland. A chilly easterly breeze and showery in Denmark and southern Sweden. Dry for northern Scandinavia, but cold at 4 to 6C. Widespread low cloud around the Baltic, but sunny to the west of the mountains in Norway.


Saturday
Heavy and thundery rain moves into Portugal and western Spain in the early hours, spreading increasingly north-east across Iberia during the daytime, accompanied by a blustery wind. Some eastern Costas may escape dry. A few thundery showers for the Balearics, southern Italy and Greece, but likely to stay dry for Corsica, Sardinia and much of mainland Italy. Warm and sunny around the Aegean and Black Seas.
Dry with plenty of sunshine for France, highs 15 to 20C, warmest in the south-west. A lot of cloud across Germany and eastern Europe. A few showers for central Germany. Persistent rain for eastern Poland and western Ukraine, perhaps northern Romania, but likely dry for Hungary & Bulgaria. A chilly easterly wind continues for southern Scandinavia. Showery for Denmark, also southern Norway and Sweden. Northern Scandinavia remains dry and cold, with extensive low cloud around the Baltic, but sunshine in western Norway.
