Thundery rain moving east
A shallow area of low pressure sits broadly across northern Europe, whilst high pressure resides close to the Azores. Spain and Portugal will see temperatures soar into the 30s on the Costas, but inland and western areas will top 40C. Hot and thundery for Italy and the Balkan countries. Dry overall for Greece, the Aegean and areas near the Black Sea. Breezy around the Greek Islands.
Largely dry for France with some warm sunshine in the south, although fresher in the north with a westerly breeze for Brittany and English Channel coasts. Showery conditions for Germany and the Low Countries, locally thundery. Areas of thundery rain move east across Poland and Slovakia, whilst the Czech Republic and much of Hungary may escape largely dry.
Staying hot across eastern Europe, 30 to 35C for Ukraine and Romania. A mix of sunshine and slow moving showers for Scandinavia, feeling fresh for Norway, and also less hot than recent days for Baltic regions at 22 to 24C.
Heat continues across Spain and Portugal, again over 40C inland. Dry conditions extend across much of south-western Europe, including France, Italy and the western Mediterranean. Hot for southern France, whilst the north remains in a fresher westerly airflow.
Fresh conditions also extend across the Low Countries and Germany, where there will be a scattering of showers. The western Alps are likely to be dry, but thundery showers will break out for Austria, and also the Balkan countries. Thundery rain too for Poland. Areas around the Black Sea will be dry and hot. Greece and the Aegean Sea will also be largely dry.
Scandinavia will see slow moving areas of rain, mainly focused on south-western Norway, and also northern areas. Mainly dry and warm around the Baltic Sea.
